A Housecall Pro alternative for cleaning businesses

Housecall Pro is a big, capable product priced for trades with office staff. Here's what that costs a cleaning crew, and where each tool actually fits.

Updated

Housecall Pro is one of the largest home-service platforms there is. Plumbers, HVAC companies, electricians and garage-door outfits run on it, and for a business with a dispatcher and an office manager it earns its price.

A three-person cleaning crew is not that business.

This page is an honest comparison of what each one costs and where each one fits. Their pricing is public, ours is public, so the arithmetic is easy to check.

What it costs

Housecall Pro's pricing page defaults to showing annual rates. The monthly figure is higher, so it's worth being clear which number you're looking at. Both are below, as listed on 27 July 2026.

PlanUsersAnnual billingMonthly billing
Basic1$59/mo$79/mo
Essentials5$149/mo$189/mo
Max8$299/mo$329/mo

Above eight users, Max adds $35/mo per additional person.

Against CleanDock:

CrewCleanDockHousecall Pro (annual)
Solo$29.99/mo$59/mo
5 users$49.99/mo$149/mo
8 users$99.99/mo$299/mo
12 users$99.99/mo$299/mo + $140/mo in seats = $439/mo

At five users you're comparing $49.99 to $149, and $149 is their discounted annual rate. Month to month it's $189.

We'll say the same thing here we say everywhere: they are a much bigger product than we are. The question isn't which has more features. It's whether you'll use the ones you're paying triple for.

One place they genuinely beat us: Housecall Pro advertises card processing "as low as 2.59%", which is below the standard rate, plus 1% on bank payments and consumer-financing options. If you run high card volume, that difference is real money and worth pricing out.

What a cleaning business actually needs

Recurring cleans that repeat themselves

Most cleaning revenue is the same houses on a repeating cycle: weekly, biweekly, monthly, first and third Thursday.

Set the recurrence once and the calendar fills itself forward. You aren't rebuilding next month every Sunday night.

Before-and-after photos on every job

"You missed a room" is the most common complaint in this trade, and it's usually a memory problem rather than a work problem.

Cleaners shoot before and after photos from their phone. The photos attach to the job permanently, next to the tracked time. When it comes up two weeks later you send pictures instead of arguing.

A booking link you can put anywhere

One link on your site, your Instagram bio, or your Google Business Profile. Requests come in around the clock, you approve, it lands on the calendar.

Quote to invoice to paid, without re-keying

Build a branded quote from the driveway. Client approves. One tap turns it into an invoice. They pay by card or ACH from the email.

Reports your bookkeeper will accept

Revenue and jobs by date range, employee pay ready to run, CSV export whenever they ask.

Where Housecall Pro is the better choice

  • You run mixed home services. Cleaning plus HVAC, plumbing, or appliance repair. Their job costing is built around parts, materials and equipment.
  • You have office staff. Dispatch boards, call handling and a mature integration marketplace are built for a team that has someone sitting at a desk.
  • You process a lot of card volume. That 2.59% rate compounds.
  • You want consumer financing offered at the point of sale.

Where CleanDock is the better choice

  • Cleaning is the whole business, not one line among several.
  • Recurring clients are most of your revenue.
  • You want photo proof on every job without adding a second app.
  • You're one to ten people and don't want your software bill to scale with headcount.

Switching

Most people are up and running in an afternoon:

  1. Start the 14-day trial and add your recurring clients first. That's most of your revenue.
  2. Set the recurrences.
  3. Run both for one billing cycle, then cancel the other.

Your data exports anytime, so this isn't a one-way door.

Common questions

How much cheaper is CleanDock, really?

At five users, $49.99/mo against $149/mo on their annual rate, about a third of the cost. Solo it's $29.99 against $59. The gap is widest in the middle, where most cleaning businesses sit.

Do you charge per user?

Not the way they do. Single covers one person at $29.99, Team covers five at $49.99, and Team+ removes the cap at $99.99. Adding a summer part-timer doesn't change your bill.

Can I take card payments?

Yes: card and ACH, paid from the invoice email. QuickBooks sync is supported. If you're comparing processing rates specifically, check theirs against ours before you decide; on high volume that can outweigh the subscription difference.

Does it work on a phone?

That's the primary way it's used. Cleaners clock in, shoot photos and add notes from the jobsite.
